In Their Own Words

Global Fund for Children envisions a future where all children and youth are safe, strong, and valued. To that end, we partner with innovative, locally led organizations, helping them to build their capacity for social change. By pairing flexible funding with targeted capacity development services, we help our partners grow stronger and more responsive to challenges on the ground. Our work advances children’s rights across four focus areas: education, gender equity, youth empowerment, and freedom from violence and exploitation. Since 1997, we have invested more than $46 million in over 725 organizations. With over 20 years of experience in grassroots development, we specialize in finding high-potential organizations and leveraging our investments and connections to help them drive social change. Our model is rooted in shifting power to local people and communities. We do this by providing local organizations with flexible cash, long-term partnerships, and a suite of support services to help them strengthen their work. We also help our partners access peers, networks, and other funders so that they emerge better connected to the resources, people, and information they need to reach their goals — ultimately leading to improved wellbeing for the children and youth they serve.
