Recommendations for the Facebook Content Review Board

In order to provide greater transparency and accountability for enforcement of its Community Standards, Facebook has called for the establishment of an independent board to oversee content decisions. Following a period of consultation with NGOs and other interested parties around the world, Facebook has asked for public comment and input on the concept and structure of the board. In partnership with its policy client, the Stanford Program on Democracy and the Internet, the Stanford Law and Policy Lab engaged in research to inform the design of a social media oversight board, within the broad outlines of the draft charter that Facebook issued for public comment.
