Yolanda Jinxin Ma

Yolanda Jinxin Ma is an award-winning cross-disciplinary professional, always finding the space for data and technology to make the most impact in an ethical and sustainable manner. She is currently Head of Digital Policy and Global Partnerships at the United Nations Development Programme, where she focuses on transforming the development space with digital technologies, based in New York. Before this post, Yolanda was with UNDP’s Asia Pacific regional office in Bangkok for five years, focusing on social innovation and impact investment. Before joining the UN, Yolanda was a pioneer in the data journalism space in Asia. She started her career building social media practice and citizen engagement experiments for the South China Morning Post, one of Asia’s top English-language newspapers, as its first Social Media Editor. Later, she joined the Thomson Reuters in Hong Kong on a data visualization project on China’s power patronage networks. Yolanda has been actively teaching and promoting data journalism and digital technology for impact, through online courses, offline workshops, and public speaking engagements.
