Shengnan (Shannon) Yang is a PhD candidate in the School of Informatics and Computing at Indiana University in Bloomington. Her main areas of research focus on the interactions between digital technologies and civil society. Focusing on the role of technology in the nonprofit sector, her dissertation studies the effects of digital tools on the social world by examining nonprofit organizations. She employs a mixed-methods approach to conduct research, including qualitative interviews, quantitative surveys, and big data analysis. Shengnan is currently working on the Civic Life of Cities project with Professor Yan Long. Before pursuing an academic career, she worked as an IT consultant in Accenture Greater China.
