Ruth Selby

Ruth Selby is the Program and Education Manager for the Effective Philanthropy Learning Initiative at Stanford’s Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society. She develops and delivers many of EPLI’s philanthropy educational offerings. Ruth graduated with an M.A. in International Education Development from Columbia University’s Teachers College. She earned a B.A. from the University of Virginia with honors. 

Prior to joining EPLI, Ruth was the Senior Manager of the Dining Room program at the St. Anthony Foundation, a nonprofit social services provider in San Francisco. She has also worked extensively in the food industry, as a chef in San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, New York City, and San Sebastian, Spain. She has appeared on Cutthroat Kitchen on the Food Network and written for Saveur Magazine. Her philanthropy interests include transitional employment and the food industry’s potential to transform lives.
