Marcie Bianco

Marcie Bianco is an editor at Stanford Social Innovation Review (SSIR). She holds a BA, with honors, in government from Harvard University; an MSt in Women’s Studies from Oxford University; an MA in English Literature from Rutgers University; and a PhD in English Literature with Women’s Studies Certification, also from Rutgers University. Bianco taught literature, critical theory, women’s and gender studies, and composition undergraduate courses in the New York City metro area from 2006 until 2017, when she joined the Stanford University Clayman Institute for Gender Research as its editorial and communications director. Bianco is a writer and cultural critic, and has been an active contributor to LGBTQ+ media as both a journalist and editor for more than 15 years. Her first book, Breaking Free: The Lie of Equality and the Feminist Fight for Freedom, was published by PublicAffairs in 2023, and she has written articles for CNN, MSNBC, and Vanity Fair, among other outlets and publications.
