Luiza Almeida Santos

Luiza is a psychology PhD student at Stanford. She works at the Stanford Social Neuroscience Lab, the Polarization and Social Change Lab, and is a PhD fellow at the Center on Philanthropy and Civil Society. She is interested in the psychological mechanisms underlying political polarization, intergroup conflict, and attitude moralization. Her research centers on how to address empathic failures toward dissimilar others and how group memberships can influence people’s moral convictions.
 
Prior to arriving at Stanford University, she was a behavioral research fellow at the Kellogg School of Management. She grew up in Brazil and graduated from Swarthmore College with a B.A. in Psychology.
