Dominik Karner
Dominik Karner is currently a PhD candidate at the Institute for Nonprofit Management at the Vienna University of Economics and Business. He is working on a cumulative dissertation on nonprofit organizations from the perspective of spatial theory. He investigates how nonprofit organizations and their spatial environment relate to each other. He is particularly interested in the question of how their embeddedness at various geographical levels – from the local to the global – is related with their organizational practices, structures and identities. His research to date has resulted in a typology of spatial narratives spread by Austrian nonprofit organizations.
He is also particularly interested in nonprofit associations. Related to his main research interest on spatial issues, he has been exploring various types of associations, their geographical diffusion and their embeddedness in socio-spatial contexts in Austria.
