Join the Effective Philanthropy Learning Initiative (EPLI) for a public webinar exploring our findings from a recent study investigating the ways that Bay Area donors learn about, choose between, and use giving vehicles (checkbooks, donor advised funds, family foundations, etc.) and the ways that nonprofit leaders receive gifts from donors. We’ll ask discuss the outcomes of a related collaborative workshop we hosted with donors, NPO leaders, community foundation staff, financial advisors, and philanthropic advisors.

About the study:

Between March and October, 2020, the EPLI research team interviewed 50 high-capacity Bay Area donors about their philanthropic practices and experiences with giving vehicles. We defined “high-capacity” as those giving over $10,000 annually to 501c3 organizations; while many donors in our sample gave well-above this threshold, we wanted to include individuals with nascent philanthropic practices whose giving we anticipated might grow substantially in the future. In addition, we interviewed 25 nonprofit leaders representing diverse organizations from across the Bay Area about their funding sources and relationships with donors.
