TRUST, SAFETY AND CONTENT POLICY

May 26th, 2022 - 9:00 am to 10:30 am PST

After the exploration of content policy through different angles – from the moderation of dangerous organizations, to challenges faced by civil society around the world, and content platform preparation ahead of major elections – the CPSL would like to close the first season of its workshop series with a focus on Trust and Safety professionals.

They are central in the understanding of challenges posed by harmful content and the adequate responses against those, yet they are rarely heard in public discussions. This is beginning to change, thanks to the work and dedication of individuals and organizations.

This private workshop on trust, safety and content policy will explore the history, place and role of the trust and safety community in the building, and now consolidation of safer online spaces.

We will also discuss the tensions between free speech and content moderation, as the world is grappling with different visions, applied differently by companies, and how this reality impacts the work of trust and safety professionals.

To converse on this important topic, we will hear from:

  • Charlotte Willner, Executive Director Trust and Safety Professional Association
  • Shelby Grossman, Editor, Journal of Online Trust & Safety, Stanford Internet Observatory
  • Mark Childs, SVP Technology Vertical Leaders, Genpact
