Sawako Sonoyama Clarin is Director of Partnerships and External Relations at Stanford PACS. She plays a leadership role in advancing the center’s mission through strategic partnerships, communications, and ongoing learning opportunities for scholars, practitioners and philanthropists, including our flagship event, the Philanthropy Innovation Summit. Prior to joining StanfordPACS, she was Senior Philanthropy Advisor at Silicon Valley Community Foundation and Director of Philanthropy Programs at the Global Philanthropy Forum. She brings nearly 15 years of experience in the philanthropy and nonprofit sector, including field experience in Ethiopia, Thailand and Chile. She cares deeply about creating positive and inclusive workplace culture, and has experience leading teams through organizational changes. Born in Japan, Sawako holds a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a bachelor’s degree in cultural anthropology and mathematics from UC Berkeley.
