Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen, Founder and Chairman

Laura Arrillaga-Andreessen is the Founder, Chairman Emeritus and former Chairman (1998-2008) of SV2 (Silicon Valley Social Venture Fund), a venture philanthropy fund that leverages its partners’ financial, intellectual, and human capital to make a measurable impact in the Silicon Valley community. Under her leadership, SV2 built a portfolio of 25 grantees and nearly 400 investors, and it won the Silicon Valley Association of Fundraising Professionals Philanthropic Organization of the Year in 2008.  Read more »

Maddy Stein, Vice Chairman

Madeline (Maddy) Stein is a retired teacher and an active Stanford and community volunteer. In 2007 she received the Governor's Award from the Stanford Associates' Board of Governors for her extensive volunteer service to Stanford. Maddy is currently the founding chair of the School of Education Advisory Council (2001-2009) and was a member of the Haas Center's National Advisory Board (2002-2007). Read more »

Darren Bechtel

Darren Bechtel is the CEO of Encapsule Medical, a privately-held medical device company focused on the development and commercialization of minimally invasive breast biopsy and tumor removal technologies. Encapsule was formed in May 2010, following the successful acquisition of the product portfolio of Rubicor Medical, Inc. As a former Rubicor engineer, Darren designed and developed what is now Encapsule's flagship breast biopsy device. Under Darren's lead, Encapsule is currently commercializing three FDA-approved medical products for global distribution this year. Read more »

Somesh Dash is a Silicon Valley-based technology investor. He works for Institutional Venture Partners (IVP), a leading technology-focused Venture Capital fund. He focuses primarily on investments in Internet, software, mobile and technology-enabled services companies. Somesh led or participated in IVP's investments in Akamai, Business Insider, CafePress, Clearspring Technologies, comScore, Danger, Dropbox, Fleetmatics, Klout, LivingSocial, mySQL, Netflix, Personal Capital, Quigo, Shazam, Twitter and Zynga. Susan Ford Dorsey

Susan Ford Dorsey is President of the Sand Hill Foundation, a family foundation established by the Ford family in 1995. As President, Mrs. Dorsey directs the philanthropic activities of the foundation, including proposal reviews, site visits and program evaluation. The Sand Hill Foundation is dedicated to preserving our natural environment and improving the lives of families in San Mateo and northern Santa Clara counties. Laura Fisher

Laura Meier Fisher is actively involved in education non-profits in the Bay Area and nationally. She serves on the boards of KIPP Bay Area Schools, Peer Health Exchange and The Urban School. She has also served on the boards of Leadership Public Schools, Stanford School of Education, and the Breakthrough Collaborative. She graduated from Stanford University in ’88 with a BA in economics. Previously, he was Chief Executive Officer of Richard N. Burton J. McMurtry has been a Silicon Valley venture capital investor since 1969.
